In this guide, we'll walk through connecting your OpenClaw Cloud instance to WhatsApp so you can chat with your AI assistant from your phone.

Prerequisites

Before we begin, make sure you have:

  1. An OpenClaw Cloud account with a deployed instance
  2. A WhatsApp Business account
  3. Access to Meta Business Suite

Step 1: Create a WhatsApp Business App

First, head to developers.facebook.com and create a new app. Select "Business" as the app type and enable the WhatsApp product.

Step 2: Get Your Credentials

In the WhatsApp section of your app dashboard, you'll find:

  • Phone Number ID
  • Access Token
  • Webhook Verify Token

Copy these values - we'll need them in the next step.

Step 3: Configure in OpenClaw Cloud

  1. Open your OpenClaw Cloud dashboard
  2. Go to Settings > Integrations > WhatsApp
  3. Paste your credentials
  4. Click "Connect"

Step 4: Set Up the Webhook

Copy the webhook URL from OpenClaw Cloud and add it to your WhatsApp app's webhook configuration. Subscribe to the "messages" webhook field.

Testing

Send a message to your WhatsApp Business number. You should receive a response from your AI assistant within seconds!

Troubleshooting

If you're not receiving responses, check:

  • Webhook URL is correctly configured
  • Access token hasn't expired
  • Your OpenClaw Cloud instance is running
