THE PROBLEM
We started building chatbots in 2021. The experience was painful.
Every platform had its own API, its own quirks, its own rate limits. Building a WhatsApp bot meant learning the Business API. Telegram was a different SDK. Discord, another framework entirely. Slack? Don't even start.
And when AI entered the picture, things got worse. Now we needed to manage model providers, handle conversation memory, deal with context windows—all while juggling platform-specific code.
The final straw was data. Every managed solution wanted our conversations on their servers. For our clients—healthcare companies, financial services, enterprises—that was a non-starter.
THE SOLUTION
So we built OpenClaw Cloud.
One configuration file. One dashboard. Deploy to WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, iMessage, Teams, and Matrix—all from a single codebase.
The key insight: run everything on the customer's own infrastructure. We provide the orchestration layer; they keep the data. No conversations pass through our servers. Ever.
This turned out to be a feature, not just a constraint. Self-hosted means customers can run local AI models via Ollama, integrate with internal systems, and meet the strictest compliance requirements.
